Project Restore won two awards of its video documentary at the Iowa Motion Picture Awards ceremony held recently in Des Moines. The video is a presentation on the effort to save the All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart.
Project Restore received an Award of Achievement in the education category as well as an Award of Achievement in the editing/long form category. The seventh annual competition featured over 150 preselected entries in 34 different categories.
"We wanted to make a video to get the public's attention and to educate them on the need to restore our cultural heritage, so we're very excited to be recognized in the media community," said Dick Doherty of Project Restore. "In fact, this video was even requested and sent to the White House for review," he added.
Project Restore is a community organization that has formally requested the transfer of ownership of the All Saints building to allow for a restoration effort. The group is currently awaiting a reply from the Des Moines Catholic Diocese.
